Transferring Video From a Camcorder to ZEN Players

Summary:
  • In order to transfer video contents from a camcorder (digital or analog) to a portable media player such as the ZEN Vision, ZEN PMC, you will need to first copy (export, capture, download, encode, among other terms) the video contents to a computer as a file, and then transfer video files to your portable player.
  1. Connect your camcorder to your PC or a capture device.

    2. If you have a analog camcorder, you can connect it to an analog capture device such as a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor, and capture the contents from the camcorder, and then transfer the captured video files to a portable player.

    If your video camcorder (DV) has a Firewire (IEEE1394) or USB connector, you can connect it directly to its counterpart (IEEE1394 or USB) port in a computer, or a separate device such as the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor, and then use a software application (for example, Windows Movie Maker, Ulead Video Studio etc) to download the contents to your hard drive.

  2. Start Ulead VideoStudio 8, and click on Video Editor in the next Windows.
  3. Click on the Capture button.
  4. In the Capture Settings tabbed page:
    • specify a duration if desired (optional)
    • in the Format list, select the WMV option.
    • The Source option will refresh automatically. It refers to the driver being used, not the video source itself.
    • Click on the folder icon to specify where you want the captured video to be stored.
  5. Click on the Options button, and select the Video and Audio Capture Property Settings option.

  6. In the next Windows, click on the Capture tab. If the current profile is not WMV9 for Creative ZEN PMC, click on the Select button. In the list that appears, select the WMV9 for Creative ZEN PMC option that best matches your TV display type (PAL or NTSC).

  7. Click on the OK button
  8. Click on the Capture Video icon to start recording, Click on the Stop Capture icon to stop recording.
  9. Click on File, and then Save. Save your projects and captured video files to your PC .
  10. You can now use Windows Media Player 10 to transfer the captured WMV video to your ZEN Portable Media Center or ZEN Vision.
